A ceremonial white dove release for a funeral or memorial service is a touching way to honor the memory of a loved one. It is a peaceful inspirational way of providing friends and family a special way to express a final good-bye. After a bird is released by a family member, a flock soon joins it and together they wing their way homeward.
The releasing of white doves at funerals and memorials is quickly becoming a popular way of adding that special touch to your loved ones memorial or funeral service. In addition to flowers, a white dove release for a funeral or memorial is one of the most loving and inspirational gifts to give to a loved one. The releasing of a white dove helps to begin the grieving process by opening the doors to “letting go” and is sure to live on in the memories of all attending the service.
A Graveside White
Dove Release can bring peace and healing in the grieving process for the
lost loved one. By releasing white doves
at the graveside service, you are symbolically releasing their spirit. Our goal is to help make the dove release as
personal and appropriate for you and your family as
possible.
At the end of the graveside service, family members release the doves from beautifully decorated baskets. The flock ascends into the sky and circles the area awaiting the spirit of the loved one to join them. Moments before, a single white dove, representing your loved ones spirit, is released by a family member. The spirit dove joins the flock of “Angels” and all together they make the spiritual flight home.
The doves rose up in a flurry of white wings. They circled once overhead and then turned to fly away. The guests shielded their eyes against the sun and watched them until they were gone. This was the symbol of a spirit soaring free. This, they had told friends, was how they imagined their loved one had been mercifully released from her suffering in the end. The flight of the doves, images of peace, was a way of saying farewell. It was a poignant and simple gesture, a ceremony the family had asked to perform, to bring to a close a touching service in memory of the deceased.
“Oh that I had wings like a dove, for then I would fly away and be at rest.” Psalm 55:6
Throughout history, the snow white dove has symbolized love, peace and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Doves provide a way for those mourning the loss of a loved one to express sorrow, and symbolically “release” that loved one on to the heavens in a serenely beautiful, meaningful way. The release of the dove symbolizes your lost loved one and is a way of saying “Good-bye, for now.”
A White Dove Release is certainly appreciated in lieu of flowers at the graveside. Nothing signifies PEACE to your heart quite the same as white doves in flight.
Veterans Release – Following the playing of Taps and a moment of silence, 21 doves are released for a final Thank You for serving our country or community. This 21 dove release is ONLY available for those who served in the military as they earned this special Thanks.
Testimonial:
Dear Bob and Paula,
I just wanted to thank you for the lovely touch your Birds of Love were at my Father’s Funeral. When I released the beautiful white bird, some of the pain of my father’s passing was eased when I saw the white birds fly away. The feeling of closure was so strong that I cannot even put it into words. Thank you again for being a big part of my family’s sorrow and my father’s passing.
Sincerely,
Melissa F. and Family
